Murdered dad-of-four Shazad Hussain never lived to see his son.

Little Armaan was born ten days after his father was gunned down as he sat in a car in an alleyway behind Amberley Street, off Leeds Road.

And today, Armaan's mother has spoken for the first time to appeal for help in catching her husband's killer.

Neelam Parvez was 21 and heavily pregnant when her 21-year-old husband and the father of her two children was killed.

Ten days later, she gave birth to Armaan, who celebrated his first birthday yesterday.

Neelam is angry that, a year on, her husband's killer has still not been caught. She told the T&A: "I want to say to the people who did this: 'You might think you look good in front of your mates for what you have done.

"We might get justice and you might get locked up, but what happens when you die and you have to face God for what you have done?" As toddler Armaan played happily beneath a collage of photographs of his mum and dad at the family's Bradford home, he was unaware the only contact he ever had with his dad was at Shazad's funeral.

"Armaan's birthday brings it all back," said Neelam, 22. "I was desperate for him to be born quickly because I could not cope with what was going on. I really wanted him to be born before the funeral because I wanted him to go and be close to his dad. That was as close as he could get.

"Armaan was born two weeks early. I had planned for Shazad to be there. Whenever people see my son they say he looks just like Shazad. The only picture Shazad saw of his son was the scan picture,"

The couple's daughter Jaahizah is three now and Shazad also has a five-year-old daughter and a three-year-old son by his first wife.

"My family, my in-laws and Shazad's first wife have all supported me," said Neelam.

"We both have kids by him and we want our children to grow up in a happy strong relationship and for them to know how much of a loving dad they had.

"My daughter does not understand what dying is. When people ask her 'where's your dad?', she says he is at work because the last time she saw him, he was on his way to work. Jaahizah has videos of Shazaad and her together and the children can watch those.

"Whenever Shazad was not at work we went out on family days out. Jaahizah remembers it. Whenever we drive past a fish and chips shop, she says 'dad took us there'. She remembers everything. We can be eating cornflakes and she says 'dad has cornflakes.'"

The couple had known each other since they were 16 and had been married for just two years.

Shazad was on his way to work in a Leeds take-away and had stopped off at his mother-in-law's to see Neelam and his daughter the night he was murdered.

"He had just passed his driving test that day and he was really happy," said Neelam. " He came to see me and mum and was asleep with Jaahizah on the sofa. He walked out of the door and came back in because he had forgotten to give her a kiss. She was asleep. I walked him to the door and he was smiling. He had the biggest smile on his face."

Within 15 minutes Neelam had been alerted to the shooting by a relative after she heard shots which she mistook for fireworks.

"I went outside and everyone was saying he will be ok. At the same time I was trying to stay calm because I did not want anything to happen to the baby. I could not touch him because the police were there."

Neelam can't remember what happened for the three days following her husband's death and still wakes up in the middle of the night, thinking it has all been a nightmare.

The couple had planned to put a deposit on a house just a few days later and Shazad had picked out outfits for his unborn baby.

But their dreams were cruelly shattered about 1.30am on September 25.

"No-one will be put to rest until those people are behind bars," said Neelam.

"I do not want anyone else to go through what I have been through. Four kids have lost their dad. He was a good dad.

"My children are the only thing that have kept me going. Sometimes I feel like I am half dead as well. Shazad was my soul mate. I can only say good things about him."

Anyone with information about Shazad's Murder is urged to is call police on (01274) 373722 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
