Upper Wharfedale will be in Division B for the first time next season after clinching promotion with a win over Colton.

Among their opponents will be Guise-ley, whose defeat by Burley meant they were relegated from Division A for the first time since 1996.

Guiseley, who won the championship in 2000 - the same year Wharfedale were elected to the league - paid the price for failing to win a match since June 18.

Chasing Burley's 151 for eight, they were skittled out for just 135, Nick Brook the match-winner with eight for 49.

Burley are now level with Beckwith-shaw, who scraped two points at Green Lane, but are one place above the second relegation spot.

Both sides are also locked together on five wins but Burley edge above their rivals courtesy of a single five-point draw over Rawdon on the opening day.

Tong Park beat Kirkstall by seven wickets to remain two points above the drop zone. The ever reliable Chander Sheikhar (4-22) and Mick Scott (3-36) dismissed one-time championship challengers Kirkstall for 103 and Danny Groom (30 not out) saw Park to a second successive win.

Otley came close to stealing a draw off leaders Bilton but Gregor Sutherland was bowled off the final ball.

Rawdon got the better of a draw with other title challengers Follifoot, who must beat Bilton when they meet on Saturday to take the crown.

With Matthew Hutton (68) and Bruce Percy (66) leading the way, Rawdon reached 199 despite a hat-trick from Simon Taylor, and tidy bowling ensured Follifoot fell well short, extending Rawdon's unbeaten run to five games.

Calverley's what-might-have-been season was emphasised when they completed the double over Division B champions Pool. Brian Wilson (5-44) and Ben Platt

(4-58) reduced the visitors to 185 and Cal-verley got home by two wickets, mainly thanks to Jake Brown (71) and Andrew Hurst (45).

Steeton, who have won the Second XI title, are still on course to clinch promotion to the top flight after beating Hors-forth by nine wickets.

Aussie Nick Carroll took eight for 60 as Horsforth were dismissed for 197 and John Akrigg carried his bat for 123 to guide Steeton to victory with one wicket and nine overs to spare.

They remain a point ahead of Colling-ham, who pulled off victory over Hall Park with the final ball. Paul Allegretto hit 92 for Park and followed that up with five wickets but defeat means the Hors-forth side are still only one point above the bottom two.

Just below them are Ilkley, who crashed to defeat against Knaresborough. Richard Harrison (5-65) helped restrict the visitors to 183 for seven but Ilkley fell victim to Attiba Allert, a West Indian paceman who picked up six wickets for the third week in a row.

Thackley struggled to a point at Bard-sey, while Silsden overcame already-relegated Menston, Chris Barrett hitting a half-century and Lee Bilborough following up a six-for-14 haul with 34 not out. Nick Hutton led the way for Menston with 61, his seventh fifty of the season.

Rob Hearn hit his fifth century of the season for Upper Wharfedale in Division C and put on 174 for the second wicket with David Whitfield (78 not out) to clinch a double over Colton.

Harden spinners Simon Wood (4-52) and Craig Wintersgill (3-47) dismissed third- placed Olicanian for 169, of which David Brook hit 50. Despite four for 26 from

Darren Murray, Harden got home with five wickets to spare, Neil Kettle (88) and Anthony Bairstow (32) sharing a stand of 74.

With New Rover beating Bolton Villas by six wickets, there are four clubs chasing the second promotion spot - Colton (72 points), Olicanian (71), Harden (71) and New Rover (69).

Skipton came out on top in the battle of the clubs seeking re-election, Robert Walker (66) top-scoring in their 213 and Andrew Fergie (3-41) and Charlie Baxter (5-70) restricting Woodhouse to 180 for nine.
