premier section after a 22-8 win over Brighouse in the Godwin League.

It is going to be incredibly tight at the bottom of the Observer League, especially with Woodside coming into form and Greengates desperately searching for an end to what is an awful run of form.

Greengates were heavily defeated 26-4 at Pudsey BC B where Bernard Trought (21-7) was yet again the big fish in the pond.

David Burns (21-2), Eddie Hill (21-3) and Trevor Holdsworth (21-3) led Knowles A to an important 22-8 win at home to

promotion-chasing Heckmondwike.

At Crossgates, Wibsey A handed the hosts a first defeat of the year in an

18-12 scoreline. Admittedly it was a weakened Crossgates side, although Wibsey deserve all the credit - as does Alan Clayton, who romped to a 21-2 win.

Lister's Nino Esposito (21-6) is closing in on Steve Gardener at the top of the averages in the Bartle League after his side's narrow 16-14 win at home to leaders Tyersal.

Brackenhill's 22-8 win over Pudsey Britannia B (Andrew Mackrill 21-5) looks like it will liven up the final few games of the season in the Haigh League, with any two of five teams still in with a great shout of promotion.

Bramley Libs B look favourites for the title after a 20-10 win at Peel B, Ken Watkin (21-9) and Ken Goodwill (21-9) doing some of the damage after an early 21-8 win for the hosts' Alan Ambler.

Cleckheaton Sports have dominated the Field Packaging League for most of the season, with Sheila Craven (21-3) on hand to guide them to promotion as they beat Birkenshaw 21-9.

Mick Froggat (21-6) could not prevent Woodside B going down 23-7 at Crowghyll B, while Eddie Willoughby (21-5) and Melvyn Johnson (21-6) ensured a 21-9 home win for Horton against Lister B.

Ashley Southwell (21-5) not only

guided his Asa Briggs side to a 26-4 win at home to Brackenhill B in the Mellor League, he also managed to continue that form into the David 'Ike' Robinson junior handicap.

Southwell, clearly a star of the future, lifted his first junior title by defeating fellow Asa Briggs starlet Mathew Baldwin 21-14 in the final.

again - going down 21-9 to Guiseley, who had Michael Turner a 21-3 winner - while Renee Earnshaw (21-4) enabled Lister C to record a 21-9 win at Shipley Club.
