A teenager has told a jury how he was shot at several times during an incident outside a Bradford nightclub earlier this year.

Tyrone Bailey, 18, said he heard a bang as he was sitting in his car outside the Functions nightclub in Hallfield Road, Manningham, one night in February.

He turned around and saw a man taking a gun out of the waistband of his trousers. "He pointed it at the car, towards me," said Mr Bailey.

"He started letting off shots into the car. I reversed into the main street. I looked and the man was still pointing the gun at the car and I could hear shots getting let off." Mr Bailey said he drove away and it was not until he reached Otley Road that he realised he had been shot."My right hand felt numb. I looked at my arm and it was bleeding, " he said.

He was taken to hospital and released five days later after two operations.

Moses Lake, 28, of Triangle Place, Clapham, London, and Robert Campbell, 33, of Wandsworth Road, London, have pleaded not guilty at Bradford Crown Court to wounding Mr Bailey with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm. They also deny a charge of having a firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Andrew Kershaw, prosecuting, said Lake had a younger brother who was known as "Padge" and three months before the alleged shooting Mr Bailey had given Padge "a good beating" after accusing him of "badmouthing" him.

There was no sequel to that until the night of February 10, when Mr Bailey visited the club where a birthday party was being held for Padge's girlfriend.

After spending a short time inside the club, Mr Bailey invited a man to join him outside for a smoke. It was as they sat in the car, listening to hip-hop music, that Padge and four other men came out of the club.

One of the men, who the Crown say was Campbell, walked up to the car and asked Mr Bailey what had been going on between himself and Padge, said Mr Kershaw.

Another man, who the Crown say was Lake, also came over to the car and the alleged shooting took place.

Mr Kershaw said forensic tests showed that all the shots were fired from the same gun, probably a .45 or similar pistol.

The trial continues.
