City's Jamaican international keeper Donovan Ricketts is champing at the bit to win back his place.

The lanky stopper is a month away from being fit due to a broken bone in his foot - and he is far from happy about it.

"It is very frustrating for me - finally getting my chance and then getting injured," he said.

"I may be out for another month because the bone in my foot is fractured.

"It is not nice being on the sidelines but I am used to it - I was watching for most of last season when Paul Henderson was the number one. I just hope that doesn't happen again.

"But it is more of a problem now because I know I would be playing if I hadn't got injured. But I am determined to get my place back once I am fit again.

"It is a long season - I will be back."

Ricketts is also expecting to play for Jamaica again soon.

"I think we are supposed to be playing against Australia in October," he said.

He will be lining up alongside City's other Jamaican international, defender Damien Stewart.

"It is nice having Damien in the squad here," said Ricketts. "He is the only one who can understand me.

"There is a great spirit among the players. The results have not been going our way but all the players are determined to do well for the fans.

"This is a good team, and if we can keep the injuries to a minimum I think we will be challenging at the top of the league."

Ricketts certainly expects to be out on the pitch helping.

"We have a very strong defence and it is reassuring having David Wetherall and Mark Bower in front of me."
