Plenty is at stake at Parry Lane tomorrow when Coventry Bears face leaders Bradford Dudley Hill in LHF Health-plan National League Three.

A win for Hill would secure their position as Minor Premiers, while the Bears, who won last season's Grand Final, must emerge victorious to retain any hope of getting into the play-offs.

"They have lost a lot of players since last season, but we think they will have some of them back tomorrow," said Hill's first-team manager Lee Collins. "We are expecting a tough battle, and that Australian stand-off Troy Perkins will be pulling their strings.

"From our point of view, we just want to bounce back after losing our unbeaten record for the season to Bramley Buffaloes a fortnight ago."

The only change in Hill's line-up is Jack Bradbury returning on the wing in a straight swap for Neil Wall, who broke his collarbone in the Bramley match.

Meanwhile, West Bowling travel to Ideal Isberg in National Conference League Division One hoping to continue the form that nearly saw them escape relegation from the Premier Division in a barnstorming finale to last season's campaign.

Coach Glenn Barraclough is looking for an early return to the top flight and has handed the club captain's armband to their former BARLA Great Britain Lions forward Nigel Halmshaw.

An upbeat Barraclough said: "Nigel is without doubt one of the best forwards in the amateur game. He leads from the front and his knowledge and experience will prove vital.

"We have a wealth of young talent in the three-quarters with teenagers Adam Wright and Jake Galtress shaping up for a big future and I am convinced we will be a match for anyone in what will be is a very strong competition for promotion."

Clayton's long-standing ambition of winning the Pennine League Premier Division title has received a major boost before they face Keighley Albion in the opening round at Lidget Green.

Second-row forwards Danny Robinson and Craig Hillom have both fully recovered from career-threatening shoulder injuries that caused them to miss most of last term, and former Dewsbury half-back Darren Collins has rejoined the club after a spell at Birkenshaw.

Coach Richard Hesletine also welcomes new forward recruit Matt Flanagan from Queensbury into what looks a very useful squad. Birkenshaw will be looking to stamp their mark on Division One when they welcome Park Amateurs to East Bierley under new coach Nathan Graham.

The former Bradford Bulls full back gives new centre Damian Glover his first run but Aaron Godward misses the start following a broken ankle.

Birky have also moved to a new HQ at Birkenshaw Liberal Club.

Victoria Rangers are at home to Newsome Panthers and West Bowling return to their spiritual home at a revamped Emsleys Rec with the vastly experienced Alan Jowett in charge against Kippax Welfare.

Division Three new boys Bank Top Harriers welcome a very skilful York Acorn outfit, while promoted Undercliffe test the waters at Rotherham Roosters.
