Steeton's push for promotion to division A was dealt a further blow as they could only manage a losing draw (2-4) at home to Calverley.

They now just a single point ahead of third placed Collingham with two games to go.

Despite losing a wicket first ball, Calverley scored 263 in 47.2 overs. Steeton used seven bowlers, but Calverley had reached 258 when they finally removed opener J Brown for 132. Jon Best was the pick of the bowlers as he collected 29-3.

With 52 overs to chase the total Steeton got off to a solid start with 85 runs on the board before losing opener John Akrigg, (60). A fine innings of 50 by Jon Best nearly saw Steeton home, but when he fell in the last over Steeton were a tantalising six runs short following a dramatic run chase.

Steeton finished on 257-6 and collect two points from a valiant losing draw.

Steeton 2nd XI are division A champions, following an improbable victory at Green Lane.

Steeton lost the toss and were asked to bat first on the 'difficult' wicket, and could only manage 92 all out in 31 overs. Opener Ajmal Patankar top-scored with just 18 runs.

Green Lane got off to a bad start and had lost their first two wickets with just six runs on the board, and were soon reduced to 45-7.

Green Lane were eventually all out for 70 to give Steeton their first ever 2nd XI championship.

With their closest rivals Bilton losing, they are runaway winners of the A Division championship with two games still to play.

Silsden second XI showed no mervy to a 9-man New Rover side.

Only M Lawson reched double figures as Rover were dismissed for 42 with Tim Waggett taking 5-13. B Sagar had the distinction of bowling five overs, all maidens, and ending with one wicket without conceding a run.

In reply Waggett failed to score, but they eased to victory in 11 overs.

Steeton 3rd XI were well beaten by a solid Kirstall Educational team. Steeton scored 176-6 wickets with skipper Mark Hedges scoring 47 not out.

In reply Kirkstall's batters never really looked in any trouble, and 12-year-old opener Nick Lindley, scored 103 not out, showing he could be a name to watch in the future.
