COUGAR coach Gary Moorby is to carry out his promise to make changes to his first team squad after their dismal performance against Swinton.

The team crashed to a 46-0 defeat and there could be no excuses for a terrible performance.

Cougars let themselves down with a catalogue of errors throughout the game in what looked a very half-hearted performance.

After a week's break for the last weekend's Challenge Cup the return to action against Hunslet at Cougar Park.

"Hunslet have had a very good season so far, I have seen a few of their games on tape and have been impressed with their performances, however we have to concentrate on our efforts," Moorby said this week.

"We owe it to the supporters that travelled to Swinton to roll our sleeves up and bounce back with a vastly improved effort.

"I will be making several changes to the 17 that played at Swinton, players left out may feel they have been made scapegoats, but I don't particularly see it that way. There is no way I can justify not making changes.

"I hope the guys coming in will add some enthusiasm and lift the side," he said.

Moorby has also been left with a dilemma because the club's Under-21s side have made the Senior Academy play-offs and he does not want to weaken that team before they travel to Castleford on Tuesday evening to take on the Tigers.

Players likely to be added to the first team starting line-up include: Lewis Taylor, Jordan Ross, Andrew Jackson, Matty Firth and David Foster. Others who could be recalled to the 17 are Danny Ekis, Jason Clegg and Daniel Harvey.

Under-21s coach Paul Moses has been in Australia for several weeks, but returned yesterday (Thursday) in time to supervise his team's final preparations for the play-offs.

During the visit to see his wife's relatives in North Queensland he paid a surprise visit to former Cougar star Steve Hall.

"I have kept in touch with Jeremy Crowther who has been coaching the lads while I have been away and it is fantastic that they have made the play-offs alongside the Super League clubs," Paul Moses said.
