The daughter of a missing man has made a desperate plea to her dad to get in touch.

Derek Chalmers, 55, went missing from his home in Lidget Green, Bradford, more than three weeks ago.

Now Louise Tindal, 22, said her family was losing all hope of finding her father alive.

She said: "We are fearful that dad is no longer alive or is in danger. At first we were quite optimistic but as the days drag on we are losing hope."

Miss Tindal said friends of her father told her he was feeling suicidal in the weeks leading up to his disappearance.

"They told me he talked about suicide so we just don't know what to think," she said. "Not knowing what has happened is the worst part of all this."

Her father, who suffers with depression, has disappeared from home before but never for this long.

"He has taken off before but only for a few days," said Miss Tindal. "He would always take his belongings such as money, mobile phone and his car with him but this time he has taken nothing."

And her father's bank account had been untouched since he left.

Miss Tindal, who lives in Wetherby, visited Bradford in a bid to track him down. She said: "Me and my brothers and sister drove up but it was futile, we found nothing."

Another reason the family was so anxious to contact their father was that his stepfather died last week.

"They were very close, so dad would want to know of his death," she said.

Miss Tindal said her father changed his name a few years ago. "It's possible some people will still know him as Derek Tindal," she said.

He moved to Bradford five years ago after separating from his wife.

Miss Tindal said her dad loved to play the guitar and often went to jamming sessions on Sundays at the Melborne Hotel in White Abbey Road.

"Perhaps someone there has seen him or knows where he is," she said.

"If dad isn't ready to see us that is fine, all we want to know is that he is safe and well."

Mr Chalmers is described as white and of slim build. He is balding with short black hair around the sides, has green eyes, a beard and sometimes walks with a limp.

He has a Scottish accent and was last seen wearing a blue jumper with black trousers and brown lace-up shoes.
