GO-AHEAD sports clubs have the chance to to take part in a 'Club for All' workshop.

The Sport Development unit of Craven District Council is running a series of 'Running Sport' courses designed to help clubs throughout the area.

The "Club for All" workshop is designed to help clubs market themesleves and understand how they can reach all sections of the community they serve. It involves looking at specific issues in relation to young people, older people, those on low incomes, women and girls, disabled people and people from ethnic minority communities.

"It is very easy to misunderstand the needs of such sections of society, and this workshop will help all those involved make a success in promoting and ensuring their sports club is open to and meets the needs of the whole community," said Sports Development officer, Bruce Dinsmore.

The workshop is recommended by Sport England as a pre-requisite it for all clubs working towards their Clubmark/club accreditation scheme.

The workshop, comes with a handbook to be used for future reference. The course is being put on with support from North Yorkshire sport which has allowed the workshop fee to be reduced to £10 per person. It takes place on Tuesday, December 13 at Craven District Council offices, Granville Street, Skipton, from 6.30 - 9.30pm.
