THE Airedale and Wharfedale championship looks as if it will be decided on the final day of the season when the two main protagonists meet. With both Bilton and Follifoot earning wins on Saturday it set things up for a thrilling finale.

At the other end of the table Guiseley slumped into bottom position after losing to Beckwithshaw who won their second game in a row to pull clear of the relegation spots.

Champions Pool took five points from their Division B match against Silsden to pass the 100 points mark for the season.

Luke Jarvis bagged eight for 38 as Bilton bowled out third placed Kirkstall for just 114. Bilton romped to a nine wickets win with Miles Corish making 58 no and Mahmood Rassool 40 not out.

Follifoot remain just one point behind them after gaining a similar win over North Leeds. Aussie Greg Dixon took a superb nine for 45 as North Leeds collapsed for just 95. Mike Halmshaw then hit an unbeaten 61 as Follifoot coasted to a nine wickets win.

Beckwithshaw dismissed Guiseley for 118 with Matthew Smart taking five for 38 off 13 overs and Paul Thompson (3-9 off 2.2 overs). Thompson completed a fine all round performance with an unbeaten 45 as Beckwithshaw won with two wickets in hand.

Andrew Paley took four for 50 off 20 overs and Peter Graham (3-29 off 13) while Mark Best bowled a miserly spell with 0-14 off 13 overs but it was not enough to save Guiseley.

Tong Park gained a big win over Green Lane to keep them out of the bottom two. Danny Groom hit a half century as Park were dismissed for 153 but veteran Mick Scott took six for 50 and Chris Shepherd 3-30 to clinch victory.

Burley moved off the bottom and remain two points behind Tong Park after their thrilling win over Adel.

David Standring led Adel to a score of 200-9 with his knock of 60, Shane Etherington taking 6-52 off 18 overs.

Burley clawed their way to victory with just one ball to spare thanks to 33 from opener M Harrison and 33 from Jamie Davey.

Ian Frost also made a vital contribution of 25 as Burley struggled against the bvowling of Jonny Francas (3-48 off 11.4 overs) and Tim James (2-35 off 11 overs).

Rawdon's prolific run scorer Bruce Percy notched the 17th Airedale and Wharfedale League century of his career in his side's seven wickets win over Otley. He hit an unbeaten 102.

Hall Park slumped to another defeat in Division B and are still battling a second successive relegation. They were dismissed for 125 in reply to Bardsey's 184-9 of which opener T Loveridge made a half-century and K Harvey 46.

Bob Hodson bagged 5-68 off 18 overs and was then top scorer for Park with 37 from the number ten spot.

Pool bagged five points against Silsden mainly thanks to a superb century from David Singleton. The opener hit 126 after losing opening partner Simon Dart without scoring. Steve Wood then joined Singleton and made 57 while David Murphy also made a half century. Mark McEneaney bagged 4-36 to seal the win.

Second placed Steeton were left seven runs short of victory in their game against Calverley. This was despite good knocks from Jon Akrigg (60) and Alex Howarth (78).

They are now just one point ahead of third placed Collingham. Ben Jacklin was Collingham's hero in their win over already relegated Menston. He followed up a five wicket spell with an unbeaten 44 and made it an unhappy final home game for Menston skipper David Lester.

He retires at the end of the season after 27 seasons with his home club. In that time he has scored over 13,000 runs for them.

Ilkley gained a vital win over Thackley thanks to a century from Craig Rackham. He hit 121 as Ilkley posted a score of 273. They then dismissed Thackley for 153 with Andrew Rhodes taking 4-68 and Chris Quaife 4-26. This win saw Ilkley move to within a point of third bottom Hall Park.

Tim Linley hit 57 but Horsforth slipped to a 41 runs defeat at Knaresborough.

Upper Wharfedale remain on track for promotion from Division C but they did not have it all their own way against Bolton Villas. They were bowled out for 137 but a magnificent bowling performance from James Yeadon (3-28) and Dave Eggleton (5-22) saw the Grassington side to victory with 23 runs to spare.
