Colin Todd was today deciding whether to make a late dash for another goalkeeper.

The City boss has until the deadline at midnight before the transfer window shuts.

First-choice keeper Donovan Ricketts holds the key to whether Todd will

try to add one more player to his squad.

Ricketts has been suffering with a bruised foot from the recent draw at Rotherham and has missed the last three games.

Russell Howarth has taken his place while City have gambled without a back-up keeper on the bench.

But Todd could be forced to act if Ricketts is still out for any serious length of time.

"We will just monitor Donovan and hopefully he should be okay," said Todd, who is faced with a mounting injury list.

City have suddenly picked up a

cluster of problems, particularly in midfield where Marc Bridge-Wilkinson and Steve Schumacher are the biggest concerns.

Bridge-Wilkinson had a scan yesterday on his damaged cartilage while Schumacher suffered a recurrence of his recent hamstring strain in Monday's match at Blackpool.

Bobby Petta (calf strain) and Danny Cadamarteri (hamstring) are also

worries ahead of Friday's clash with Chesterfield at Valley Parade.

Cadamarteri's injury could pave the way for Steve Claridge to make his first start after replacing him from the bench on Monday.

Todd said: "I hoped we could get some quality into the box when Steve came on but he didn't get that service. But he will be a good addition.

"But I've told the players we can't just rely on Dean Windass. I've tried not to say it but goals have got to come from other areas."
