Steeton's push for promotion to division A was dealt a blow when they were beaten by Pool last week.

After being asked to bat Steeton got off to a solid start from youngsters James Procter (56) and Ajmal Patankar (35) who put on 101 for the first wicket before both fell within an over.

Neil Spragg and Aussie Nick Carroll then added 65 runs for the third wicket before Nick was bowled by a grubber for 32 runs. John Akrigg (3) and John Best (4) both fell chasing quick runs. Neil Spragg (63 not out) and cousin Lee Spragg (15 not out) then saw the innings to completion with several huge blows as Steeton posted 228-5.

In reply Pool's overseas star Simon Dart dominated an opening partnership of 116 with Singleton. A solid spell from 15-year-old Stephen Roberts helped put Pool under pressure and Nick Carroll earned the reward when he bowled Singleton (35). However Dart and Wood continued the good work for Pool before the outstanding Carroll (16-2-52-3) gave his team mates hope when he caused Dart to play on for a fine 96 and trapped Wood leg before for 35.

Despite the breakthrough Pool finished won by five wickets to take the Division B title. Steeton are now just five points clear of third placed Collingham with three games remaining.

Steeton 2nd XI moved closer to their first ever division A championship, with a comprehensive demolition of Pool. Pool reached with David Atkinson, who celebrating the birth of his first child Martha , with 6-40 runs, and twice he was on a hat-trick.

Faced with a small total Steeton got off to a great start with a 101 run opening partnership between Dave Cook (55) and Mark Chapman (34 not out).

Steeton scored 125-2 in 25.5 overs, to collect another six points, which keeps then 17 ahead of Bilton.

A chancless innings of 130 not out from Stuart Tillotson helped Silsden 2nd XI to 200-8 against Ben Rhydding.

In reply Ben Rhydding got off to a steady start, but when opener Stoddart was out for 85 his team mates gave up hope of victory.
