Martin Smith's brilliant 21-4 win over Peter Simpson was the highlight for Clayton A in the Naylor Premier League, as they beat relegation-threatened Spen Victoria A 24-6.

Spen also slipped up (19-11) at home to fellow strugglers Armley Cons A, for whom Neil McPhail was a 21-4 winner.

Paul Bowes (21-5) helped Littlemoor A to a 20-10 win at home to Eccleshill A and Tony Green (21-9) was instrumental as champions-elect Brighouse went down 17-13 away at Pudsey Britannia A.

Bramley Libs A shocked Wyke A with a 22-8 away win in the Godwin League, Duncan McPhail (21-5), Mark McCann (21-7) and Walter Stockhill (21-9) helping Bramley towards an unexpected result.

Crossroads entertained second-place Asa Briggs A and, had it not been for Asa's talisman James Senior (21-4), the result would have been a lot worse than the 19-11 defeat that ensued.

Horsforth Woodside A continue to creep towards Observer League safety and their 24-6 win at home to Salts A could prove an important win, Gary Wike (21-3) top-scoring for Woodside. Greengates, on the other hand, have been in freefall lately although they steadied their descent with a

21-9 win at home to Wibsey A, Tommy Powell (21-6) pipping Dave Rankin (21-7) to the sweep.

After a number of uncharacteristic defeats in the Bartle League, Bowling Parks' Steve Riddell finally slipped into top gear, registering a 21-3 win as second-place Bowling dismantled Crowghyll A 21-9.

Ian Spence and David Bottomley were both 21-8 winners as Lister A thrashed Littlemoor 29-1, though it was Tyersal A who made the biggest noise as they stormed into top spot after a 26-4 win at home to Bowling Park, Wayne Woodhead (21-4) and Peter Page (21-5) on form for Tyersal on what was a day to forget for the Dennison clan.

Bramley Libs B are looking good for promotion from the Haigh League. Their 20-10 win at home to Horton A cements their place at the top, Ken Goodwill (21-6) and up-and-coming bowler Joan Wilkinson

(21-6) ensuring a home win for Bramley.

Peel leg-end Alan Meeson

(21-5) stormed to victory as Peel beat Wyke B 18-12, however Meeson was beaten to the top score by Vince Cleary, who romped to a 21-3 win.

West Bradford A are closing in quickly on the promotion spots in the Riley League thanks to a 21-9 home win over Queensbury B, Henry Lee (21-4) on fire for the home side.

BBA sit proud at the top after two excellent away wins, Graham Milthorpe (21-8) excelled in a 17-13 win at Eccleshill C, and Steve Holmes (21-5) was the pick of the winners in a 20-10 win at Harold Park.

Guiseley's Mark Dickenson (21-4) is showing he is one of the juniors to watch at the moment in a 15-15 draw with Knowles B.

Cleckheaton Sprots are romping away with the Field Packaging League at the moment, though they did stutter a little at home to Drighlington B, going down

16-14 - Roy Metcalf (21-2) and Brian Day (21-6) doing some of the damage for the away side.

Salts B produced a magnificent result in the Mellor League, thrashing Queensbury C 29-1. There were no less than three 21-2 winners: John Simpson, Brian Wright and Derek Simpson, though their scores were eclipsed by Neil Nicholson, who registered one of the very few 21-0 wins this year.

Ray Southwell (21-7) was the only highlight for Wibsey C as they went down 26-4 away at Asa Briggs C, Jack Summers (21-4) top scoring for Asa. Brackenhill B also produced a good win away at Oakenshaw B, Bernard Norfolk (21-2) and Roger Bernard (21-4) helping the away side to a 19-11 result.

Bradford Moor B look set to escape from the Moorhouse League, although they were well beaten (19-11) as they travelled to Wibsey D, for whom Nathan Brown was a stunning 21-1 winner.

Ron Lowe was also a 21-1 winner for Guiseley C as they beat Horton D 18-12 away. Steve Town (21-3) helped Shipley Club to a 15-15 draw at home to Peel D, Ian Goodall (21-7) replying for Peel.
