It has been duly noted that maybe I consigned Eccleshill B to relegation from the Naylor Premier League a touch prematurely.

Ladyhill were the hosts in their latest match and slumped to an 18-12 defeat, Andy Howie giving the away side a great start by beating Steve Cooper

21-14.

But it is a long season and Eccleshill will certainly have to continue their current good form to pull well clear of trouble.

Elsewhere it was definitely a case of Rule Britannia as Pudsey entertained Armley Cons A, Britannia posting nine winners in a 28-2 thrashing including dominant efforts by Jeff Goodall (21-4) and Steve Bowes (21-6).

Mick Angus' 21-7 win over Pudsey Ltd's John Spinks helped Eccleshill A to a 20-10 home win.

And Brighouse Sports were 21-9

winners at Spen Vic A, Tony Riley (21-6) and Ian Smith (21-9) impressing for the leaders. But it was an uncharacteristically bad day at the office for Ronnie Wormald, who crashed to a 21-5 defeat to Spen's Phil Smith.

Bramley Libs A finally kick-started their promotion charge in the Godwin League with a 30-0 mauling of a Peel A side who were desperate for points.

Mark McCann (21-6), Richard Firth (21-7) and Walter Stockhill (21-8) helped ensure maximum points for Bramley, as did Alan Hurdley with a 21-8 verdict which denied Donald Firth a 75th birthday bonus.

Crossroads were 29-1 winners at home to Rufford A, Garry Foster (21-4) top-scoring for the runaway leaders.

Brighouse B thumped Queensbury

A 25-5, with Russell Swails (21-6) and John Lunt (21-9) two of eight winners for Brighouse.

High-flying Asa Briggs and Guiseley shared the points 15-15 in their match, but it could have been worse for Asa had it not been for star bowler James Senior chipping in with a 21-6 success.

Dave Rankin's 21-9 victory over Dave Tinker could not prevent Greengates slipping to an 18-12 home defeat against Observer League leaders Crossgates.

Salts A found the going tough at Pudsey Ltd B, John Armitage (21-6), Eric Hargate (21-7) and Debbie Davis (21-9) helping the hosts to a 23-7 win.

Low Moor Harold made hard work of an 18-12 victory at home to Royd House.

All Low Moor's seven winners were involved in close affairs. Billy Cater (21-5), with his regulation single-figure win, and Brenda Malone (21-8) clawed back some points for Royd House.

Clayton B captain Andy Southwell (21-4) led by example as his side ran out 24-6 winners at home to Crowghyll in the Bartle League. Tommy Harney (21-9) also hit form for the hosts.

Stanningley put up stubborn resistance away to Haworth, Don Sturgeon (21-8) and Steve Gardener (21-9) scoring heavily for the away side as they were unlucky to lose 17-13.

Leaders Littlemoor B are certainly more consistent this year and are

winning impressively away as well as at home, earning a deserved 18-12

verdict at Rufford B. Kath Bywell and Alan Caine exchanged 21-9 successes for their respective sides.

It seems like Pudsey Britannia's Norman Dewhirst has been bowling since the days of Francis Drake, yet he still continues to churn out vintage performances like his 21-6 win away to Wyke in the Haigh League.

Unfortunately for Britannia it would have taken a number of old cannons to sink a sturdy Wyke ship, John Russell (21-4) and Pat Jagger (21-9) firing early blows in a 21-9 victory.

Glen Kilburn (21-2), Lynn Arthurs (21-3) and Anne Sweeney (21-7) had

better luck at home to the same Wyke side, earning Armley Cons B a 23-7 win.

Bramley Libs B took Asa Briggs B all the way, Steve McGreavy securing a

16-14 victory for Asa with his 21-10 final-block win.

David Moore (21-7) helped steer Brackenhill to a 24-6 success at home to Spen Ex, while Pat Priestley (21-3) and Eddie Piskozub (21-3) bowled superbly as Oakenshaw disposed of Pudsey Britannia 26-4.

John Ramsey produced a stunning

21-1 win for West Bradford A as they went on to beat Knowles B 25-5 in the Riley League, a great performance as the winners dropped only one point in the process.

Wibsey B were yet again thankful to Barbara Gott (21-5) in a drawn match against Troydale, while Julie Darvill (21-8) and Stuart Harrison (21-7) helped Harold Park to a 21-9 home win over Guiseley B.

Tyersal B were in seventh heaven during a 21-9 home win over Lister B

in the Field Packaging League, Alan Walker and John Smith both 21-7 winners for the home side.

Mick Pullen and Craig Tavender also found seven their lucky number as Crowghyll B beat Birkenshaw 18-12, though a 21-6 win for Bill Jarvis ensured the points went to home side Crowghyll.

Peel C looked like they would coast to a big win as they entertained Woodside B, a 21-9 win for Diane Goodall and Shirley Wood's 21-5 effort appearing to sew the game up.

But Woodside finished off with five out of five winners to steal the match 17-13, Gary Chaffer (21-8) top-scoring for them.

Asa Briggs C hit the highest score of the day in the Mellor League with a 25-5 home win over Oakenshaw B.

Sylvia Parker (21-5) and Mathew Baldwin (21-8) started the rout which was backed up by yet another superb Asa junior, Jack Summers emerging a 21-8 winner.

John Lucciarini (21-3) and Melanie Ormston (21-9) ensured Royd House took the greater share of the spoils in an 18-12 win against West Bradford B.

And Jack Kirby (21-4), Dennis Jackson (21-5) and Peter Balmforth

(21-8) saw Wibsey C 16-14 winners away to Queensbury.

Bradford Moor's 21-9 away win over Shipley Club in the Moorhouse League would have been even greater had it not been for Geoff Hanson, who slid in a much-needed 21-2 effort.

Moor captain Olive Durrans will still be happy with the result though and capped off the day in style with a 21-3 win of her own.

Ken Briggs was a 21-6 winner for Horton C as they overcame Lister C

19-11, while Wibsey D were 24-6 winners at home to Peel D.

Renee Fowler, George Sykes and Simon Wilkinson were all 21-7 victors for Wibsey, with Jack Gilderdale (21-5) offering some consolation for the beaten Peel side.
