Bradford Bulls have reacted angrily to stories sweeping Wigan that Shaun Edwards is set for a shock return to Central Park.

New Wigan chairman Mike Nolan and coach John Monie have declined to comment publicly on the move, but I understand the Bulls have been sounded out about the possibility.

Bulls coach Matthew Elliott would not be drawn either on whether an approach had been made, but insisted: "We are not interested at all in such a move.

They can forget it, although we might consider a swap for Jason Robinson and Gary Connolly!"

"We are more than happy with the way Shaun has conducted himself at training and he has given every indication he is happy with us."

Wigan are making a determined effort to return to former glories under Monie and have an agreement with Aussie star Wendell Sailor to join them next season.

But question marks remain over the future of scrum-half Craig Murdock, and Edwards, who still lives in the area, would be a popular recruit for his home-town club, where he enjoyed a glittering 14-year career.

The 31-year-old left for London Broncos last April to be close to his girlfriend - pop star Heather Small - and their son, but they have since parted and Edwards got his wish for a return north when the Bulls paid £30,000 for his services last October.

He is expected to make his debut in this Sunday's friendly double-header against Batley and Dewsbury.

Meanwhile, Elliott has confirmed interest in highly-rated Widnes teenager Danny Myler, but not at anything like the £80,000 tag placed on him by the First Division club.

The 18-year-old former England league and union schoolboy international has just four matches to go on his present contract with the Vikings.

The Bulls would be able to sign him after that period if they agreed personal terms and were prepared to let a tribunal decide the fee. But Elliott added: "We would much prefer to settle a fee."

Super League bosses today unveiled JJB Sports plc as the competition's new sponsor in a two-year deal thought to be worth between £1.2million and £1.5million. JJB Sports, a Wigan-based sports retail company with a host of nationwide stores, take over from brewers Bass, who ended their backing last August
