Detectives were today investigating the suspicious death of a Bradford woman.

The 40-year-old was found at her home in Granton Street, Bradford Moor, last night.

Part of the cul-de-sac was sealed off by police and forensic experts were at the scene today. A post-mortem examination was being done this morning.

A West Yorkshire police spokesman said: "We were called to an address off Leeds Road at about 9.45pm yesterday.

"Entry was gained to the property and the body of a 40-year-old woman was found."

Joanne Harvey, 30, a resident in Granton Street, said a couple lived at the address.

"They kept themselves to themselves," she said. "They made no noise and I just used to see them coming and going from the house.

"Last night I heard some banging but didn't go to look and did not hear any police cars."

A workman in the street said: "She used to come out and make us cups of tea. This is quite a shock. She always spoke to us and seemed nice and pleasant."

Another resident in the street, who asked not to be named, said the woman moved to the house six months ago from Acton Street, which is the next road on.

She said: "I think she lived on her own but used to have quite a few visitors. I used to hear shouting and bawling sometimes.

"But generally it was quiet and she kept herself to herself."

Police are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.

The spokesman said: "We are especially appealing to anyone who saw someone they did not recognise acting suspiciously in the area during the last few days."
