Move over Del Boy! Would-be actors, set designers and camera operators are being sought to "star" in a Bradford charity's very own sitcom.

The Clear Vision project wants volunteers of all ages who live in or near the Newlands area of the district to help produce it.

The half-hour programme, entitled In The Eye Of The Beholder, is being made in association with Springfield Youth Centre and organisers are planning to screen it at this year's Bradford Festival.

The comedy tells the story of 13-year-old Davey who lives on a local estate. For the first time in his life he has taken a shine to a girl - 16-year-old Holly Vickers - but he has no idea how to deal with his feelings.

Although the main plot revolves around Davey, there are six parts up for grabs. Characters range in age from 12 to 75.

Mike Greasley, secretary of the Clear Vision project, said after making a half-hour film about the history of a local stream for last year's Bradford Festival, the charity hoped to inject a bit of humour into community broadcasting this time around.

He said: "We will actually be producing three programmes which are all inter-linked. The first is a documentary about community television and how it can help areas like the Newlands.

"The second project is a human interest programme involving Parkland Middle School in Thorpe Edge and the third is In The Eye Of The Beholder. These are all community projects and it is important that different members of the community take part."

The charity is staging an induction evening at Springfield Youth Centre, Idlethorpe Way, Idle, tonight at 7pm for anyone interested in taking part. No acting or technical experience is needed as full training will be given. Auditions will take place at the Springfield Youth Centre next month and organisers hope to start shooting the half-hour comedy at the end of May.
