Keighley Cougars fans Terry and Ena Senior were presented with a bouquet to mark their 40th wedding anniversary during a surprise ceremony at Sunday's match.

The couple, whose home is in Redcliffe Street, Keighley, rarely miss a home game and Ena in particular is an avid follower of the team's progress. The surprise was arranged by their niece Jill Torr.

The Seniors spent their ruby wedding anniversary weekend in St Anne's with their family but insisted on coming home in time for the match. And they were repeating their long devotion to the team. For on their wedding day in 1958 the couple took their guests, including the priest, to a cup tie.

The Seniors are lifetime members of the club, joining at a time of financial crisis as a means of demonstrating their support. And even though they are entitled to seats, they prefer to stand.

In 1995 Ena, who has supported the team for 49 years, was voted a fan of the month.

Terry, 68, is a retired postman, and Ena, 66, worked in the pathology laboratory at Airedale hospital. Her retirement was marked by a visit by Cougar players. The couple have two daughters and six grandchildren.

Their daughter Kathryn Barrett, of Fell Lane, Keighley, says: "My mum's a Cougar maniac. It was super of the Cougars to do this."
