Keighley sea cadet corps is shipshape, and that's official!

The unit has received the prestigious Royal Navy pennant award - presented for high standards of efficiency - for the second year in succession.

Pictured above proudly displaying the pennant are corps president John Briggs, commanding officer Lt Margaret Jones, Petty Officer Brett Garfitt, Lt Judith Clarke and cadets, from left, Laura Kane, Alan Wormald, Jamie Roberts and Marc Briston.

"We are delighted and proud to have been awarded the pennant again," says chairman Gladys Briggs. "These are not given lightly - it is a great honour."

Membership of the cadet corps, which recently launched a junior section for 10-12-year-olds, has soared to around 60. The juniors meet on Monday evenings, and the seniors (12-18 years old) on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Recent fundraising events have included a trolley dash at Morrison's in Keighley, which coined in £300. The winning ticket holder was Cadet Ranklin.
