Police are seeking three youths following an incident in which a woman's shoulder bag was snatched.

The 22-year-old woman was walking along a snicket near Victoria Avenue, Lawkholme, last Thursday evening when she was approached by the youths. One grabbed her bag from behind, and they ran off.

The assailants are described as Asian males in their late teens. Two were wearing baseball caps and one wore a white tracksuit.

The incident happened at about 10.30pm.

Householders are warned to keep their doors locked even when they are at home, following a spate of sneak-in thefts.

In one incident a coat was taken from a Braithwaite flat after someone walked in through the unlocked back door.

Insp Mick Hopwood says: "It only takes a moment for somebody to sneak in, take something and then be away. We would urge people to keep their doors locked."

A mugger struck as a 72-year-old Keighley woman was washing clothes at a laundrette in Eagle Street, Keighley at 9.30am on Monday.

The youth asked for change and when she said she had none, he grabbed her purse which fell to the floor. He picked it up and fled, says a Keighley police spokes-man.

He is described as Asian, aged between 15 and 18 with short dark hair. He was wearing a cream coloured anorak and was smartly dressed.

Two men attempted to break into a black BMW parked outside the Dog and Gun pub at Oxenhope.

The pair pulled up in a Ford Fiesta XR2 and attacked the lock of the BMW with a screwdriver, before fleeing.

One man had dark hair and was wearing a bright red jacket, and the other was of medium build.

The incident happened at around 1.20pm last Thursday.
