Anyone who has seen Peter Beagrie in action this season will understand just why Everton have turned to their old boy to as they bid for Premiership survival.

The 32-year-old has been brought in by manager Howard Kendall until the end of the season to supply his trademark quality crosses for Everton's forward-line.

In his 32 games for Bradford City this season, Beagrie has shown the tremendous talent which persuaded Manchester City to spend more than £1 million on him just four years-ago.

Capable of beating defenders with ease, he has often been the Bantams' main attacking weapon although he is yet to break his barren scoring run. November 5, 1994, was the last time he hit the net in first team football before injury decimated his Maine Road career.

Moving to Valley Parade under Chris Kamara has proved a great move for Beagrie after making just one appearance as substitute for the Blues in the 1996-97 campaign.

Despite suffering a couple of hamstring strains, he has proved his fitness in the current campaign and Kendall will be hoping he can push his side away from the relegation zone. Everton are just two points clear of third-bottom Barnsley with the Tykes having a game in hand.

Kendall said: "He can still provide more ammunition than most wide players in the country. And should we need to get the supply into Duncan Ferguson or Mickael Madar, I am very sure Peter will do it.

"He was a big favourite with everybody including the dressing room," the Everton boss said.

It is also a dream move for the talented winger as it gives him the opportunity to play on the biggest stage of all in the Premiership. Although I personally hope he is back at Valley Parade come the summer.
