Keighley Under-16's turned in their best performance of the season, beating Harrogate 19-17.

TheUtley side held a narrow 12-10 lead at half-time with tries from Sam Hollingswrth and Chris Feather together with a conversion from John Finn.

Harrogate took the lead with a converted try midway through the second half, it looked all over for the Keighley side. However, some excellent defending by the home side's forwards somehow managed to keep Harrogate out and a flowing movement from the backs put winger Sam Hollingsworth in for his second try in the corner to level the scores.

Jon Finn added the touchline conversion to give the home side a well deserved victory.

After last week's disappointing exit from the cup Keighley Colts gave their best performance of the season on a small, difficult pitch.

The comittment from the whole XV was excellent with outstanding performances from hooker Lee Gordon and back row man Matthew Watson, picking up deserved tries. Other scorers were skipper Alex Artiss, James Petty, David Williams and under-17 debutant John Morris.

The home side's only points came from a last minute penalty try under the posts.

Keighley Under-9's showed what open flowing rugby they can play on a large pitch withtheir 20-10 defeat of a Wetherby Under-9's side which had been strengthened by a couple of Keighley Undr-10 players.

Strong running from Ross Hardy, William Armitage, Sam Long and tigerish defence from Alex Gallager, Anthony Gererty and William Tate neverallowed the Wetherby side into the game. Tries from Rob Spencer (2), Tom Nixon, Nick Robinson and Gererty secured the win.

Thursday saw an U11 Tag Rugby Competition take place at Keighley Rugby Union Club organised by the Bradford Rugby Union development officer.

Bronte School played Hartington in the 9-a-side tournament winning by three tries to one. The team then beat Calversyke by five tries to one. In their toughest game the team went on to beat Worth Valley by three rubbers to two.

Bronte qualified unbeaten for the final where they played Hartington again. Bronte had the edge but it was still quite close winning by four tries to three, to win the tournament.

Bronte try scorers were Matthew Fowlds (3), Adam Hargreaves, David Broadley, Rowan Thewlis and Robert Marsden all with two each and Jonathan Storton, Thomas Lonsdale, Alan Clough and Chris Newman scoring one each.

Other members of the team were Joe Cannon and Adam Jones Whittan.
