Parents and residents on the Ravenscliffe and Greengates estates have been urged to attend an emergency meeting on the impact of the education shake-up on their schools.

Under the proposals to change to a two-tier system of primary and secondary schools, all first, middle and upper schools serving the two estates in Bradford North will close.

Brookfield First, which has just had £107,000 spent on refurbishments and security, and Ravenscliffe First will go completely.

Eccleshill North Middle will be closed, then converted into a 420-place primary; Greengates First will be relocated to a new primary on the Thorn Garth site in Thackley; and Eccleshill Upper will close and be reopened as a Church of England secondary school.

The emergency meeting has been called by the Ravenscliffe and Greengates Association and will be held at Eccleshill Upper School at 7pm on Wednesday.

Association secretary Aud-rey Raistrick said: "We have got to strike while the iron is hot. It is important to do this now so people really understand the full implications of the school review.

"Residents are very concerned that they are going to be losing their schools and we want to galvanise residents of the Ravenscliffe and Green-gates' estates to respond to this.

"We feel there is going to be mayhem on this estate. We can't get the children into the schools on the estate now so what are they going to do if there aren't any schools to go to in the first place."
