Bulls coach Matthew Elliott has spelled out the need for clear heads as the countdown to Easter Sunday's big West Yorkshire derby with Leeds Rhinos at Odsal continues.

That will be the theme in training this week as the champions look to fire early shots across their neighbours bows in the race for a place in the top five play-offs.

"Motivation is never a problem in these matches but we have to be in a state to take crucial decisions on the night which will decide the outcome of the game," he explained. "We have to show attention to details. It is no good going out there with 17 motivated idiots."

Elliott watched the Rhinos in action for himself on Sunday and came away pretty impressed after their 30-8 win over Warrington Wolves.

"They played a pretty aggressive style of rugby and looked much more organised generally.

"I thought Richie Blackmore played as well as he has done since he has been here and Darren Fleary (ex-Keighley) also caught the eye with his direct approach.

"They are going to be very tough opponents and it should be a great spectacle. We are really looking forward to it and we relish the sort of atmosphere the game will be played in."

Fans are advised that family stand entry tickets, previously available via the T&A voucher, must now be purchased from Odsal in advance of gameday.

Meanwhile the Bulls are anxiously waiting to hear whether half-back Robbie Paul is to be called up by New Zealand for the Anzac Test with Australia on Friday, April 24.

Paul's return to fitness and form will no doubt have been brought to the attention of Kiwi coach Frank Endacott.

If Paul is selected he would miss the visit to Super League newcomers Hull two days later.

St Helens stand-off Tommy Martyn is doubtful for Friday's match at Wigan - but has been cleared of any serious knee damage after being injured in Sunday's opening Super League win at Salford.

Martyn, who missed most of last season following a knee reconstruction, had feared he may need another operation.
