A new ice cream van may seem an unusual present for a 60th birthday - but for a local Italian woman it was the sweetest gift.

Antionetta Crowley - better known to her customers as Mrs Tony - has been serving the sweet-toothed of Keighley for more than 15 years, and she has no intention of stopping. To celebrate her birthday husband Johnny and daughters Patricia, Susan and Louisa have bought her a sparkling new ice cream van.

Mrs Tony has become a popular face on the streets of Keighley, serving generations of local families.

She says: "I love this job. I want to carry on doing it for as long as possible because I like the children, I like the people and they like me. I have lived in Keighley for most of my life and I love both the people and the place itself." With her ready supply of ice cream, Mrs Tony is also very popular with her three grandchildren, who often ask for a tasty treat.

Originally from just outside Rome, she first came here as a young woman and liked the area so much she decided to swap the seven hills of the Italian capital for the rolling Yorkshire countryside. Although she has lived in Keighley for most of her life, she still visits her home country as often as possible.

With her shiny new set of wheels on the road, it looks like Mrs Tony will be chilling out in Keighley for many more years to come.
