Brave cancer sufferer Lynda Fox, who was given a full make-over by the Telegraph & Argus, has lost her three-and-a-half year battle against the illness.

Lynda, 44, of Dawson Mount, Bierley, died peacefully at Bradford Royal Infirmary on Saturday morning just hours after what she described as a 'dream of a day' when her final wish came true.

She had wanted a professional portrait taken for her family to treasure and the T&A stepped in to organise a make-over on Friday and take photographs of the occasion.

She was too ill on Saturday to see the newspaper but her family at her bedside told her how good she looked in the pictures shortly before she died.

The photographs will now be given to her five sisters and two brothers for a lasting memento of their sister, who had battled against stomach cancer which was diagnosed in February 1995. Her sister Dorothy Caygill, 52, of Shelf, paid tribute to Lynda and thanked the T&A and everyone else who had helped with the make-over.

"It was a lovely day and I would like to thank everyone for making her day - she thoroughly enjoyed it and the people who came were wonderful," she said. "She was tired and quite ill in the morning but there was no way she was going to let me cancel it and she really did have her dream of a day.

"We took her to hospital on Friday night and on Saturday morning they rang us. I took the paper in with me. She was semi-conscious but I told her it was wonderful and she squeezed my hand."

Mrs Caygill said she would also like to thank all Lynda's many friends for their support and help over the years.

Lynda's day to remember was made possible by Bradford clothes mail order company Grattan, a stylist from Mario's hairdressers in Bradford's city centre, and two make-up consultants from Boots the Chemists.
