AN excellent run by Billy Kerr in the Askern 10 mile road race saw him record another fast time at the distance.

In hot conditions his 56.30 was most impressive, securing 8th place and runner up in the over 40 veterans category.

Ilkley's Malcolm Pickering also claimed second spot in same category in the Barnoldwick Weets race, a six mile road and fell event with 1,800 feet of ascent, the previous weekend.

Helen Johnson continues to do well on the fells and was first lady at both the Heart of the Lakes Rydal Round in one hour 42 minutes, and the Rhewl Rough Run in 43.11.

Ilkley's Pete Silby also enjoyed the Rydal Round and Neil Taylor had a good run in the International Snowdon Race, completing the 10 mile event in a respectable one hour 38 minutes.

Richard and Joy Gray's summer run and barbecue is tomorrow (Friday August 14) at Leathley.
