Timothy Taylor's famous bottled Landlord beer is soon to become more widely available in off licences and supermarkets across the country.

The Keighley-based award-winning brewer of traditional cask ales has secured a major supply deal with the country's largest independent distributor, Tavern Group.

Tavern's national account director Robert Hole says: "Landlord is a nationally known brand and will therefore be a very important addition to our extensive portfolio.

"We see it having strong appeal for our major retail customers in the off-trade, largely because it is so popular with the beer buying public. It is one of the drink trade's few must-stock items, and it will complement our existing range of regional ales."

Landlord is a classic English strong pale ale which for over 50 years has been winning prizes in both bottled and cask ale categories. It is one of the only beers to have won the Brewing Industry International Awards Championship three times.

The production of draught beers has always been the mainstay of Taylor's business, so this new initiative will enable the company to capitalise on bottled Landlord's popularity and free the brewery's sales team to concentrate on its core products.

Taylor's sales director Tony Howlett says: "We are delighted to be working with Tavern. For Taylor's, the distribution agreement represents a great opportunity to increase sales of our premium bottled ales. For consumers, it means that they will soon be able to enjoy a regular supply of their favourite beer, no matter where they are in the country."
