Rival managers Paul Jewell and Peter Jackson have urged their players and fans to stay calm when Bradford City visit Huddersfield on Saturday.

The West Yorkshire derby at the McAlpine Stadium will be the first meeting between the two clubs since City striker Gordon Watson won his damages claim for negligence against Town defender Kevin Gray.

Watson, 27, suffered a double fracture of his right leg in a challenge by Gray which ruled him out of football for about 18 months. The striker's damages claim will be settled in May next year.

Tensions will undoubtedly be running high on Saturday but both bosses have appealed for their respective sides to concentrate on football.

Jewell said: "It is no good looking back. We are footballers and are only concerned with football.

"That is the only thing that interests me because it is the only thing we can influence. I won't even be mentioning it in my team talk. What is done is done."

Terriers boss Jackson said: "The fans may have an edge with the court case being so recent but it is the football which is important.

"Let's concentrate on that. I hope it will be a good game. The incident was very unfortunate but we should all put it behind us."

Watson has been confined to the substitutes' bench in recent weeks while Gray has been playing for Town.

Bantams skipper Stuart McCall also echoed the comments of both managers before adding: "I hope it won't have any effect.

"We hope the matter has been put to bed. Gordon missed a large part of his career and it has been dealt with by the courts.

"I hope we can now all concentrate on the football and look forward to what should be a very good game between two good sides."

Meanwhile, Jewell has not ruled defender Ashley West-wood out of his plans for the short trip to Huddersfield despite the injury he suffered in the 3-0 victory over Swindon last weekend.

Town striker Iffy Onuora accidentally landed on Westwood's ankle as the pair challenged for a ball inside the City penalty area.

The luckless defender battled on for a short time but had to be replaced by Andy O'Brien after 68 minutes.

Jewell said: "Ashley's ankle is still swollen but he has certainly not been ruled out of the Huddersfield clash."
