Keighley & Craven Under-13's made it through to the second round of the English Schools Cup -- but were made to fight by Cleveland.

After their long journey to Middlesbrough the Keighley side took time to settle down and the home side more than deserved their 4-0 half time lead.

In the second half they began to assert themselves playing fast open fooball.

South Craven's Tom Palmere crossed for the first try, converted by Bronte's man of the match Sane Walton. Further tries were scored by Walton and Hartington's Dean Muir.

In the end Keighley & Craven were worthy winners, but they must learn never to take the opposition for granted.

Keighley Albion Under-16's reached the final of the West Riding Challenge Cup with a hard fought 10-6 victory over Greetland. Ben Archibald opened the scoring for Albion and 15 minutes later a length of the field move gave Archibald the opportunity to return the favour to Andy Bailey who raced from half way to score under the posts, with James Young adding the conversion.

Greetland replied with a converted try just before half time. Richard Windle, Richard Littler, Richard Dibbins and Ed Dawson staged a powerful second half performance in defence to keep Greetland pinned in their own half.

Cougar Cubs Under-13's reached the semi-final of the Challenge Cup with a 44-4 victory over West Craven Wanderers.

The game was over as a contest when Cubs gathered the ball from the kick-off and ran in their opening try. As hard as West Craven tried they could not match the pace of the Keighley side.

Try scorers were Tim Wilkinson (3), Jason Barnes (2), Shane Walton, Michael Hastings, Paul Hardwick and Ross Pearson. Goal scorers were Jason Barnes (3) and Shane Walton.

Captain Tim Wilkinson had a fine game at fullback with Jamie Smith having his best game for the club at prop.

Cougar Cubs Under-14's went out of the Challenge Cup, losing to a very physical Newsome Panthers 14-22. Keighley tries came from James Routledge (2) and Ross Barnard together with a goal from Andy Feather.

Keighley Celtic under-10's showed they were made of stern stuff against an experienced Siddal side. They kept their heads up and produced a much improved second half performance.

Cletic Under-12's missed out on a place in the Challenge Cup semi-finals when they slipped to a 52-0 defeat at the hands of Wibsey Warriors. Celtic turned round 16-0 down despite a close first half, and the Wibsey team took control after the break. Celtic played to the final whistle and the match effort award went to Alex Sawley.
