Peter Holbrook enjoyed a super performance for Ukrainian 'B' away to Nomads 'B' in the Keighley & District Table Tennis League.

He won all his singles, including a hard fought 21-14, 17-21, 21-14 success against Pete Midgley, leading the way from the front as usual. Good support from the reliable Stef Szczur with a couple helped to ensure a 7-3 win for the Ukies. Edgar Klava with two was best man for Nomads.

Tony Boyd was at his brilliant best for Nomads 'C' at home to their 'A' team. After despatching both Andy Allott and Bill Mitchell with ease he then took on the more resilient Bob Davis, but try as he might the man from Cirencester could not quite get the better of his opponent as Boyd won out 23-21, 22-20 in a pulsating encounter. Allan Balmforth gave good support with a brace and with one from Neil Foley and a doubles win for Balmforth and Boyd 11-21, 21-9, 21-16 against Davis and Mitchell the 'C' team ran out comfortable winners.

Dave Adams, playing his first competitive match of the season following injury, grabbed a couple for Nomads 'D' against Ukrainian 'A', including a 21-9, 21-18 win over Paul Farley. A searching examination from Rod Robertson proved too much for the returning Adams, though, as he went down 12-21, 21-17, 21-13 in his side's 7-3 defeat.

An enthralling match between two teams scrapping it out in the leading pack set Division Two alight when Cononley Sports entertained visitors Airedale Terriers 'A'. Tim Boothman was simply magnificent against Phil Scarr in registering a 21-13, 21-11 success on his way to a full house, but Cononley Sports, renowned for their tenacity, dragged themselves into the game following this set back to win the remaining six singles. None did better than Stuart Maude whose battling 21-7, 13-21, 21-18 win against Paul Beck set the seal on an excellent 6-4 victory for the sportsmen.

Michael Mitchell made sure of a win for Haggas over Oakbank Juniors almost single handedly with a thrilling treble against the youngsters, but the real fun resulting from this match is probably still on going at the Fuller household where serious leg pulling should still be taking place as a result of dad Steve losing out to both son Sam (19-21, 22-20, 21-19) and son Josh (21-15, 21-17). Despite the heroics of the lads, however, the woolmen still managed to stagger to a 6-4 victory.

In Division Three the impressive John Driver showed the way home for Airedale Terriers 'B' with a fine maximum against Ilkley Road 'B', although Chris Gill pushed him to a decider before Driver upped the pace to win 15-21, 21-12, 21-8. Gill managed a good 21-18, 21-19 victory against Paul Waddington, but best Roader once again was the rapidly improving Karl McIntyre whose double strike included an excellent 21-18, 11-21, 21-18 win against Stuart Myers. His efforts were not enough, however, to stop the Terriers posting a 7-3 success.

Mick Cawkwell and Paul Lister both ended with full marks for C.C.L. at South Craven School and excellent support from Andrew Cawkwell with a couple saw the visitors keep up the pressure at the top with a resounding 9-1 win
