Bradford Bulls medical staff will decide in the next couple of days whether Paul Anderson and Danny Peacock are ready to put their knee reconstructions to the test.

Both players are desperate to resume after a lengthy rehabilitation but Matthew Elliott and his coaching staff have to balance that against the obvious dangers of coming back too early.

Assistant coach Brian Noble says the position should become clearer after they have undergone further tests when the squad resumes training today.

"At this stage I would say Paul is slightly ahead of Danny and there is a good chance he could return against Wakefield on Sunday," he said. "But Danny is also very close and just keeps pestering us to give him a game."

Anderson was in superb form this time last year before his season was ended in a warm-up game with St Helens in March following two storming displays in the Challenge Cup against Rochdale and Castleford.

Peacock, who was a massive influence in the 1997 Super League title success, was sadly missed after also suffering cruiciate knee ligament damage in June.

The Bulls have strengthened their three-quarter line with the capture of Aussie duo Nick Zisti and Michael Withers and Salford pair Nathan McAvoy and Scott Naylor since then but the return to peak form of Peacock would further strengthen Elliott's hand with a demanding fixture list ahead.

Second-rower Warren Jowitt, who suffered similar knee damage to Anderson and Peacock last season, made a successful return against Huddersfield on Saturday.

Meanwhile Mike Forshaw remains a doubt for the meeting with Super League newcomers Wakefield who could include former Bull Andy Hodgson and Kevin Crouthers who is on loan from Odsal for the season.
