Paul Jewell has warned his Bradford City side they must bounce back from their defeat at Birmingham and avoid the complacency which followed the last unlucky reverse on their travels.

The Bantams slipped to a heartbreaking 2-1 loss against promotion rivals Birmingham City on Sunday with Paul Furlong grabbing the winner in the third minute of stoppage time.

City dominated for long periods in a similar manner against Huddersfield Town in mid-November, and Jewell wants to avoid a repeat of what happened in the next home game.

He said: "The players were off on Monday and when they came in yesterday we had a team meeting where I outlined what I expect of them.

"It is very important we don't let this affect us like it did after the Huddersfield game. We played well that day, but the following week we were awful against QPR when we lost 3-0. We didn't work as hard as I expect us to in that game.

"The bus was very quiet coming back from Birmingham, which is a good sign. The best thing you can do as a footballer is play, and I detected the right sort of mood in training yesterday. It was a very good session. The Birmingham game is over and the most important game now is against Watford on Saturday."

This month is a crucial one for City with home games against three promotion candidates - Watford, Ipswich and West Brom - and a trip to Sheffield United.

However, the Bantams will be without Darren Moore this weekend. The towering defender will lose ever-present record this term because of suspension. The 25-year-old's yellow card at Newcastle in the FA Cup was his fifth of the campaign - a tally which incurs an automatic one-game ban. Moore picked up his sixth booking in last weekend's defeat at St Andrews.

Moore's place will be taken by either Andy O'Brien or John Dreyer, although with the teenager being naturally right-footed, he will start as favourite to return to the side.

Jewell said: "Darren being out is a blow, but it is pleasing that we have quality players who can come in.

"The back four received a lot of stick earlier in the season, but whenever suspensions or injuries have bitten hard, we have been fortunate in being able to bring in very good replacements."
