Athletics: Bingley Harriers took top honours in the British Veterans Indoor Championships at Birmingham.

Neil Robson won the over-50s 3,000 metres in 9min 25sec and Les Haynes emulated that feat in the over-55s race.

Fred Gibbs grabbed double gold in the over-60 category when he won both the 1,500 and 3,000m while John Smithurst took bronze in the over-60s 800m race.

Ian Lindley was runner-up to former British champion Paul Edwards in the shot. Edwards was allowed to compete while he awaits a new hearing, regarding the life ban imposed last year after a positive drugs test.

Sunday's veteran five mile race from South Leeds Stadium was won by York's Andy Normandale who was half a minute clear of West Yorkshire veteran cross country champion Jack Verity of St Bede's.

The West Yorkshire Sportshall Trials at Bingley Grammar School produced 11 records.

In the under-15 girls Bingley's Georgina Roberts won the two laps in a record 22-27 and completed a winning double in the speed bounce while Bradford Airedale's Rachel Wolstenholme won the shot putt with a throw of 9.56m.

Keighley's Rebecca Long set a record of 49-80 in the under-13 four lap and Bingley's Frances Noble had a winning double in the standing triple and vertical jumps.

Matthew Ackers Johnson went one better winning three events in the under-13 boys section.

He should be confident of being selected to represent West York-shire at the regional trials in Cleveland in a fortnight's time.

There was a three-way tie in the 15-mile White Holme Circular Fell Race on the Lancashire Yorkshire border. Mark Horrocks (Clayton Le Moors), Jason Howard (Rossendale) and Boff Whalley of Pudsey and Bramley shared the honours in 1hr 52min 05sec while Bingley's Jason Feeney was fourth.

Baildon's Quentin Lewis took the overall men's title in the West Yorkshire Winter League race at Stainland.

Dewsbury's Treena Carney took the women's award just holding off Skipton's Sarah Dugdale. Pudsey Pacers took the team award.

Terry Lonergan took the over-50 award and Bingley team-mate Gerry Spink won the over-65 in the Huddersfield 10km road race.
