Rugby League: Dudley Hill capped a memorable season as they celebrated their return to the National Conference Premier Division at the first attempt.

After clinching promotion a week ago with victory over Featherstone Lions they duly completed a double inside four days with a 40-6 success at Parry Lane.

The game never reached the intensity of last Wednesday's clash between these two teams, but Hill were generally in control throughout.

Despite the Lions going ahead in the opening minutes, Hill surged into the lead with a three-try burst in five minutes.

They opened their account when Gordon Long sold a simple dummy and strolled in behind the posts.

He added the conversion and was again on target when Dean Blankley notched a trademark try.

In the 20th minute Hill had the game won when Neil Walsh gathered a high pass to stroll in at the corner.

On the half-hour mark Hill brought the crowd to life with a superb try from a set move direct from a scrum which sent flying wingman Kirk Johnson on a 60-yard sprint to the posts.

With a simple conversion Hill had a comfortable half-time lead.

The second period saw the home side never really get out of second gear, but they added tries from prop forward Andy Agar who broke a tackle and raced 20 yards for the touchdown.

Long was successful with the extra points, but narrowly missed when Agar powered over by the posts for his second try.

Benson added a goal and then Hill finished the match in style with a bewildering passing movement that left a huge hole through which Andy Wilson strolled in for the final try and a straight forward conversion from Long.
