London Broncos captain Shaun Edwards ended the "will he, won't he" saga by announcing he will play in Saturday's Silk Cut Challenge Cup final against Leeds Rhinos.

The veteran former Bulls scrum half has not played for four weeks after breaking his thumb in the Broncos' semi-final victory over Castleford.

But he has decided to risk permanent damage by taking his place in the team.

"It's still broken but I'm going to play," said Edwards, after undergoing further x-rays.

"I've told Dan (Stains) that I'm going to go out there and give it a go and he said 'OK."'

Edwards will make a record-extending 11th cup final appearance at Wembley hoping to add to his 10 winners' medals.

Edwards, who was originally told not to play for between eight and 12 weeks, revealed that his specialist will attend Saturday's match to give him a pain-killing injection.

"He is going to come to the game and give me a jab before kick-off," said Edwards.
