Relatives of a former Bradford builder who was beaten to death in France say they may have to take out a bank loan to bring his body back to Britain.

Graham Anderson's dismembered body was dumped in woods in France where he had been living for nine years.

His son Tim, 15, and stepson James Lee, 22, have been charged with the 57-year-old's murder while his estranged wife Jacqueline, 47, and an unnamed family friend have been charged with disposing of his body.

Mr Anderson's daughter, Louise Marsden, 36, of Baildon, and her husband Colin have been told it will cost at least £3,500 to bring his body back.

Mr Marsden said: "We're still waiting to hear from the Foreign Office when his body will be released.

"It will cost about £3,500 and I should think we'll have to take out a bank loan.''

Mr Marsden said it had yet to be decided where the funeral would take place, adding: "We've got to talk about that with Graham's parents.''

He said Mr Anderson's elderly parents, who live in North Yorkshire, had been devastated by the news.

A Foreign Office spokesman said officials had visited Mr Anderson's son and step-son on Wednesday.

He said: "They had no complaints and had been appointed legal aid and lawyers. They were also able to pass messages onto the next of kin.

"We have helped to obtain a permit for the return of the body."
