Posters in Bradford, accused of making drugs look fashionable, are to be removed within the week, the advertiser responsible has promised.

The posters, publicising the new men's magazine Later, read "Get Some Coke for Jamie's Party" above two tick boxes offering the choice "1 Gram" or "2 Litres".

Dozens of complaints about the billboards, including one from the headteacher of Grange Upper School, in Little Horton, have been sent to the Advertising Standards Authority after they were distributed across Bradford and the North of England last week.

Similar ones were seen in Manningham and Wyke.

Today, an ASA spokesman told the Telegraph and Argus: "We have been in touch with the advertisers. The advert will be down within a week and they won't use a similar advertisement in future."

He said the first complaints were received on Wednesday and by Friday there were 22 others, which he described as a "speedy response".

Bradford Council leader Ian Greenwood also complained it was unacceptable.

Today, he said: "I am extremely pleased that the company have acted in this way although I do think somebody in the firm should have realised much earlier that it was something that would be seen as condoning illegal behaviour."

An investigation has been launched, which will take several weeks, and the complaints are expected to be upheld if the adverts are seen to be "condoning or encouraging illegal behaviour".

The new magazine is the second to be rapped for its advertising in the last few weeks.

The first for a publication called Heat upset many burns victims of the Bradford fire disaster when people were shown reading while being engulfed in flames.
