Amateur Rugby League: Queensbury A have one hurdle to cross to achieve an unbeaten record for this season when they meet West Bowling A in the Pennine Shipley Trophy final at Parry Lane tonight (7pm).

Queensbury have easily won the Division Five championship and, together with the Hudson & Foster Bradford Cup success, they could finish the season with a 100 per cent record.

They have assembled a fine side, achieving the balance between youth and experience to great effect.

Every side needs an engine room and the Villagers will rely on veteran Shaun Fallon to provide the spark to ignite the team.

The giant forward is an ever present and apart from being a deadly goal kicker he also scores quite a few tries for good measure.

One player to look out for for the future is junior hooker Luke Cooper who is sure to be at the top of the tackling count and will make his usual yardage from acting half back.

West Bowling A finished in midtable in Division Thre after what for them was a topsy turvey season.

They lost a clutch of experienced players to the first team but coach Joe McDermott has been rewarded for the faith he shown in a number of youngsters that he drafted into the team and they are showing a great deal of promise.

They too have a splendid veteran in ex-Halifax hooker Nigel Whitehouse while the handling ability of 16-year-old stand-off Mark Dunning is bound to cause problems.

The key to the tie could depend on the forward battle and Bowling's front row pair of Bernard Dowling and Chris Makowski who will take some holding.
