Support for Bradford City is at a high ahead of this weekend's crunch match, with fans flocking to deck themselves in the claret and amber club kit.

Staff at the club shop at Valley Parade estimate they have sold 2,000 new strips since it was unveiled on Saturday.

Queues had started to form for next season's strip as early as 7am on Saturday, with a steady stream of buyers since then.

"It went absolutely barmy!" said shop worker Steven Johnson. "It never stopped all the way up to the match and has been busy in the following days too."

Opinions on the new look - with wider stripes on the shirts and claret, instead of black, shorts - had been mixed. Fans had complained that the claret colour wasn't a real claret, said Steven. "But the majority find it's growing on them.

"We're selling a lot of car flags and banners ready for Sunday, and anything people will be able to wear on the match day, things like baseball caps.

"The leisure shorts have been going well with the nice weather, too."

Russ Hinkles, assistant manager at Sportsshoes Unlimited on Hall Ings, Bradford, said the store had sold hundreds of new shirts. "A lot of people bought them for Saturday's match. We're never sure how they'll go, but we've sold a lot."

City will play in their new away-strip at Sunday's crucial match at Molineux, the home of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Club secretary Jon Pollard said the new changed away-strip was being kept under wraps until the last moment.

"It's all part of the build up!" he said. "All I can say is that we are playing in our new away-strip."
