Yeadon , after a first day wash out, got what they hope will be a promotion challenge moving when they visted Drighlington and grabbed the points with a fine display from their Scarborough-based contingent.

As Drighlington fell for 135 skipper Damon Gormley took 4-12 off eight overs. His brother Simon opened the innings with Neil Elvidge and they gave Yeadon a tremendous start. Elvidge finished with a superb 79 whilst Simon Gormley made 18 on his Yeadon debut before brother Damon came in to finish things off withn an unbeaten 27.

Darren Murray made a good start in the Yeadon colours taking 2-18 off ten overs with the wickets of opener Carter and overseas player Khan to his name. Yeadon's own Khan continued where he finished off last season with another useful performance taking 3-20 off 14 overs.

League newcomers Esholt held Manningham Mills to a draw just failing to reach the target of 128. M Birkby grabbed an impressive 7-19 off 11 overs for Esholt but some steady Mills bowling just prevented Esholt from gaining victory as they finished on 121-8.

In Division One Farsley took advantage of another rain-wrecked programme to steal a march on their Division One rivals. They followed up their opening day win over Pudsey St Lawrence with a 76 runs win over newly-promoted Cleckheaton in which Mark Ross, the former Guiseley player, had another unhappy day. He was out for just fiove but former Hall Park all-rounder Andrew Doidge proved his worth with a knock of 38 as Farsley made 185-9 in a 40 over game.

Cleckheaton then fell for 109 with former Yeadon bowler Tony Gilks claiming 0-27 off nine overs and the former Hall Park pair Jamie Simpson (0-16 off six overs) and Andrew Doidge (3-41 off 11 overs) playing their part but the real hero was young spinner Matthew Barnes who took 5-18 off 10.3 overs to follow up his knock of 30.

Former Yeadon wicketkeeper-batsman Alastair Long failed to score for Cleckheaton being bowled by Doidge for nought.

Bradford and Bingley gained their second four point draw of the season when they visited Pudsey Congs. In a game which did not start until 4 pm Bingley made a blistering start through Gareth Batty. The young all-rounder, who has been given a two year contract by Surrey, blasted the first three balls off Gary Severn for six and then hit another six before the over ended to take 26 off the first over.

Batty went on to make 55 as Bingley totalled 166-6 off their 27 overs, former Yorkshire spinner Phil Carrick taking some punishment with 0-37 off five overs. Former Yeadon and Hong Kong international skipper Patrick Fordham made a useful contribution of 37 for Bingley who then restricted Congs to 75-5 with Richard McCarthy taking 3-19 and David Pennett 2-12.
