Otley TOWN 0 LITTLETOWN 1

A GOAL mid-way through the first-half sentenced Otley Town to a second successive defeat in Division One of the Muntaz West Riding County Amateur League.

Whilst the previous week they had deserved better against one of the three teams involved in an exciting promotion race this Saturday a lack of confidence in front of goal prevented them from capitalising on some neat approach play.

Indeed both sides created chances in a game which many agreed had been one of the season's best,

For Town Chris Stuart made a rare first team appearance at the back and he deserved the plaudits given to a solid defence in which Andrew Redman again stuck doggedly to his man marking task.

Town now go on their travels to finish off a mixed season which will see them placed in mid-table.

Overthorpe entertain Town this Saturday and then they visit Salts for their last game on Saturday, May 15.

Interspersed between the two is a trip to Litletown on Monday.

The Harrogate League Premier Division Town Reserves side complete their campaign on Saturday with a home game against Boston Spartans kicking-off at 3 pm.

The third team's position is still unclear. This team, kindly sponsored by the Rose and Crown, currently lie third and could still gain promotion if the divisions are re-arranged as anticipated.

More seriously the lads involved in the third team, along with the rest of the club, wish a speedy recovery to manager Paddy Campbell who suffered a severe leg injury on the cricket field last weekend.

The popular, larger than life figure is currently laid up in Leeds General infirmary.

Following Paddy's injury Town have had a problem with the Alphabet Draw this weekend but normal service will be resumed next week.
