Cycling: Wibsey's Yvonne McGregor has won the Women's Ten-mile Time Trial Championship for the fourth time in seven years.

Yvonne won by almost half a minute on an undulating course at Farnham in Surrey, her time of 21min 53sec putting her clear of holder Andrea Pogson, who was second in 22-20, the bronze going to Ceris Gilfillan, who clocked 22-28.

Ex-champion Jill Reames (Swaledale CC) - another Yorkshire rider - tied for fourth place in 22-34 with Maxine Johnson. Letchworth took the team award.

There were several high-class foreigners in the 102-mile Lincoln Grand Prix, which has now been granted full international status.

A late escape helped Lithuanian Saulius Ruskis, riding for the French Oktos-MBK team, win by three seconds from Yorkshireman John Tanner, who out-sprinted Irishman Ciaron Power. After being with the leaders for most of the day, Horsforth's Jon Clay faded in the closing stages.

Pete Kennedy (unattached) won the 62-mile John May Memorial Road Race, organised by Wakefield CC at Notton.

He was 30 seconds clear, Danny Fox taking the sprint for second place ahead of Dave McGowan and Mike Moss (Cottingham Coureurs).

In the supporting race over 31 miles, Sean Snodden (Ace RT) out-sprinted Andy Sedgwick (Chesterfield Coureurs), the pair crossing the line 30 seconds clear of Paul Scott (VC York) and Geoff Davison.

John Charlesworth (South Yorkshire Police CC) set a new course record in winning the Pennine CC 50 on the old Great North Road at Dishforth.

His time of 53min 31sec took just over two minutes off the mark set by West Yorkshire policeman Richard Alhadeff.
