Cricket: Yorkshire had Scotland in all sorts of trouble after putting them in to bat in the World Cup warm-up match at North Marine Road today.

Chris Silverwood and Ryan Sidebottom each grabbed a wicket as Scotland slumped to eight for two by the sixth over in a game reduced to 47 overs-a-side because rain delayed the start and then Craig White made it 13 for three.

Scotland coach Jim Love, the former Yorkshire batsman, gave Gavin Hamilton a game against his county side, despite the fact that the all-rounder is suffering from slight shin soreness which kept him out of the match with Lancashire on Monday.

When play began, Silverwood struck in his second over when out-of-form Bruce Patterson wafted outside off-stump and edged a catch to Richard Blakey.

Mike Allingham did not last much longer, because in the next over he received a great delivery from Sidebottom which found the edge of the bat as it seamed off the pitch and Blakey pouched his second catch.

Silverwood and Sidebottom were both rested after economic spells, Sidebottom giving away just one run in four overs for his wicket, and their places in the attack were taken by White and Matthew Hoggard.

The score had nudged on to 13 by the 11th over when skipper George Salmond dabbed tamely at a ball outside off-stump from White for Blakey to hold on to yet another catch.

A cheer went up from the thin crowd when Hamilton came in to bat with Scotland's innings in tatters. But he received a hot reception from White who got a ball to lift sharply and crack him on the right side of the face.
