A Bradford couple will be walking up the aisle this weekend - after a whirlwind romance when they met through the Telegraph & Argus Two's Company column.

Peter McKirgan met Lynette Jones after she replied to his advertisement and they were engaged after a week.

Now ten months later the pair, who have both been married before, say they have never been happier after believing they wouldn't find love again.

"I was looking through the T&A when Peter's advertisement caught my eye," said Lynette, 48, who has six sons.

"It said he wanted to meet someone who was not only beautiful on the outside but on the inside as well.

"We went out once and I thought he was nice and then we went out for a walk in the country one Saturday and we just clicked.

"A week later on my birthday we went to Southport and Peter brought me a ring.

"I think we'd both resigned ourselves to the fact that we might not meet anyone.

"People first thought we'd met on a blind date but now everyone knows and they realise that the personal columns are a good way to meet someone."

On Saturday, watched by more than a hundred family and friends, the couple will make their vows in the art gallery at Cartwright Hall followed by a reception at a pub.

"We're having a traditional wedding with bridesmaids and all the trimmings," said Peter, 45, an engineer who lives in Clayton.

"I work all over the country and abroad and it's quite a lonely job. It's difficult to meet people when you're away all the time and I saw the Two's Company column one day and decided to go for it.

"I certainly have no regrets and never imagined a year later I would be getting married.

"It's the best thing I ever did. Lynette is a wonderful woman."
