BURLEY TROJANS 3

BURLEY Trojans kept up their promotion challenge with a convincing victory at Tockwith.

Trojans played some of their best football of the season and the lively Chris Connolly opened the scoring on 20 minutes latching on to a Craig Swanston through ball and turning his marker before firing home.

Connolly then failed in a one-on-one with the 'keeper and the 'keeper kept out Phil Constantine and blocked two close range efforts from Peter Sumner.

Trojans lost Dodsworth and Wilkinson injured and former manager Dave Pullan entered the fray and showed some neat touches.

Connolly scored again and then Constantine sealed victory. Stuart Dibb, revelling in his new midfield role, picked up match point.

Trojans signed off with a disappointing 3-3 draw at Wetherby Athletic. The result ensured third place which is an excellent achievement after last season's disappointing campaign.

Scorers were Jamie Davey, Chris Connolly and Stuart Dibb.

It has been a long hard season for Trojans and they can look forward to a well deserved summer break as manager Shankland looks to strengthen his squad.
