Residents have sent a strong message to Bradford Council that they want quality rather than quantity on the former Transperience complex at Low Moor.

They say they have enough eyesores and want a development to proud of.

Their views, put during a a major public consultation exercise on the use of the site in Cleckheaton Road, will be considered by Bradford area planning sub committee at its meeting on Thursday.

The sub-committee will look at all the observations - including points made by representatives of the new owner - before deciding a use for the prime site.

It is expected to agree a development plan which would include encouragement given to rail freight orientated uses.

Housing may be allowed on part of the land, provided there is suitable access into Oakenshaw village.

But officers will recommend the protection of the route of the former Spen Valley Railway from anything which would prevent it from reopening.

Members will also look at the proposals for a railway station at Low Moor and funding.

And councillors are also likely to decide that the layout of any development should protect the environment of nearby housing areas and Victoria Park.

The development plan comes as the new owners Ogden Property Group have submitted a planning applications on the site for business.

No decision has been taken yet on the application, but when it is looked at the development brief agreed at Thursday's meeting will be weighed against it.

The land is up for grabs after the discovery park collapsed - even though it had received millions of pounds in public funds.
