Former City and West Ham striker Jimmy Quinn believes the experience that Paul Jewell has brought to Valley Parade will be an integral factor in the Bantams avoiding relegation this term.

The Swindon Town boss spent ten months with City in the late 1980s before moving to Upton Park in a £320,000 move where he helped the Hammers into the top flight.

Quinn played with Jewell when Terry Yorath was in charge of the first team and the pair built up a firm friendship.

He said: "Paul has done a great job in achieving what a lot of people thought was not possible - putting Bradford City in the Premiership.

"Stuart McCall will have a big influence for City this season while people like Dean Saunders have seen it all in their career and that could prove invaluable.

"Paul has brought a lot of experience together and I sincerely hope Bradford do well for all the great people at the club who were very kind to me while I was with them.

"Of course the club has been transformed since then both on and off the field.

"The stadium is fantastic and a worthy place to host Premiership football and I know everyone will be looking forward to teams like West Ham visiting.

"I really enjoyed my time with the club and hope that they can prove everyone wrong because it would prove that the so-called 'unfashionable' clubs can actually survive among all the big-spending clubs.

"Paul (Jewell) does have his work cut out but I think he will keep them up. I think Watford will go down but Bradford have brought in a lot of experience which will stand them in good stead.

"West Ham have a good side as well and it will be a big test for Bradford."
