Thousands of revellers are expected to converge in Bingley next weekend for one of Yorkshire's largest free music events.

The two-day event in Myrtle Park, on September 4 and 5, will feature the chart bands 21st Century Girls, Fierce and Shelly Nelson.

Organisers of the annual event, which attracted 25,000 people last year, are expecting to be the biggest and best yet with something on offer for all the family.

It has been put together by Bradford Council's Recreation Service along with radio stations the Pulse and West Yorkshire's Classic Gold.

On Saturday at 6pm the weekend kicks off with the Council's Music at Myrtle night in which seventies revival band BC Sweet top the bill. These will play all of the Sweet's greatest glam rock hits including Blockbuster and Ballroom Blitz.

The group will be supported by 'Ang About and Abba Gold, a tribute to the Swedish supergroup.

All the bands will perform on a purpose-built stage in the park's lower meadow close to the river. A giant fireworks display is designed to end the evening with a bang.

On Sunday, the festival continues with the Pulse Party in the Park featuring 21st Century Girls, Fierce, Point Break and Shelly Nelson. The event will be hosted by Pulse presenters Mark Page and Lucy Smith.

Councillor Derek Kettlewell, chairman of the Council's Sport and Recreation sub-committee, said: "This is the biggest and best free live music event for miles around.

"The two-day music event means there is something to suit everyone's taste and this makes it a great outdoor event for both families and all music lovers to enjoy."
